ARITA NANAKURA is a new brand name of Arita ware. This brand was founded by a group of 7 porcelain-making firms from the Arita district, which has a tradition of fine porcelain that is more than 400 years old.The HANA series is designed by Toshiyuki Kita who has been internationally active for many years. With the concept of Cook's New Canvas, his goal is creating chinaware that embraces the cook's creativity and which can be used to present cuisine from any culture. Toshiyuki Kita is an active,internationally-respected environment,interior,and product designer. He is also involved with traditional Japanese craft design.
1942 Born in Osaka, Japan.
1964 Graduated in Industrial Design from Naniwa College, Osaka.
1967 Established a design office in Osaka.Began studying habitat,lifestyle and traditional craftwork in local areas.
1969 Began to work in Japan and Milan,Italy.
1970 Released interior products from Japan and Italy.
Started studying living environments and interior design.
1981 "WINK" (chair) --selected for the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
1984 "KICK" (table) --the second piece to be included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Served as an instructor of industrial/craft design in Malaysia and Singapore.
1985 Member of the Jury at the 19th SMAU Awards for Industrial Design,Italy.
